  JOHN C. HART, JR., M.D., FACS

  Dr. John C. Hart, Jr. is a board-certified ophthalmologist practicing at Associates in Ophthalmology and also serves as Co-Chief of Anterior Segment Surgery at William Beaumont Hospital. In addition to his practice duties, Dr. Hart is also a Clinical Assistant Professor of Biomedical Sciences at Oakland University. Dr. Hart received his medical degree with distinction in Biomedical Research from Wayne State University School of Medicine, before completing Transitional and Ophthalmology residency training at William Beaumont Eye Institute, where he served as Chief Resident during his final year. As an active member of the medical community, Dr. Hart is a member of several professional organizations, including: •American College of Surgeons, Fellow •American Academy of Ophthalmology •Michigan Society of Eye Physicians & Surgeons •American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons •Michigan State Medical Society •Oakland County Medical Society Throughout his practice experience, Dr. Hart’s work has appeared in numerous publications, award-winning presentations and abstract papers. He remains on the cutting edge of new technology in the field of ophthalmology. Dr. Hart also enjoys spending quality time with his family, hunting and is an avid fan of wrestling.

  BRIAN R. SYGIEL, M.D.

  Dr. Brian Sygiel is a partner at Associates in Ophthalmology and he also surgically trains ophthalmologic residents at the William Beaumont Hospital. Dr. Sygiel received his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan, and as a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society, he earned his degree from the Wayne State University School of Medicine. He then completed both a Transitional and Ophthalmology residency at William Beaumont Eye Institute. During his senior year, Dr. Sygiel served as the chief resident due to his outstanding performance throughout his residency. In addition to his practice experience, Dr. Sygiel is also a member of several professional organizations, including: •American Academy of Ophthalmology •Michigan Society of Eye Physicians & Surgeons •American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons •Michigan State Medical Society •Oakland County Medical Society Dr. Sygiel enjoys attending sporting events (both pro and collegiate), spending time with his family, and traveling throughout northern Michigan where he is quite fond of fishing, kayaking, and snow skiing.

  DAVID M. SHEPHERD, M.D.

  David M. Shepherd, M.D. was certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology (ABOP) for life in 1978. However, he voluntarily went through the laborious proccess to become re-certified in 2012. Dr. Shepherd joined the very few ophthalmologists in the state of Michigan who have voluntarily re-certified. Over his career, he has helped in the training of many ophthalmologists who now practice in Michiagn and throughout the United States. He graduated from the University of Michigan Medical school and completed an advanced training in ophthalmology at The Henry Ford Hospital in downtown Detroit. Along with his many years in the medical field, Dr. Shepherd is additonally a member in: -American Academy of Ophthalmology -American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery -Michigan State Medical Society -American Medical Association -Michigan Society of Eye Physicians -When Dr. Shepherd is not in the office, he enjoys traveling and spending time with his grandchildren.
